Dirk Nowitzki: Ex-NBA star cares for the well-being of his children

The violent death of Afro-American citizen George Floyd during a police operation also shakes former NBA superstar Dirk Nowitzki (41, "The Great Nowitzki") deeply. In a text published on Twitter the native of Würzburg writes that he is "concerned about the future of his children". Nowitzki has three children with his wife Jessica Olsson, who has maternal Kenyan roots. Together with daughter Malaika (6) and the two boys Max (5) and Morris (3), the couple lives in Dallas, Texas after the career of the exceptional athlete.

"Families have been doing this for generations"

"My heart is with the Floyd family and all other families affected by racism and social injustice," Nowitzki begins his post. "It shakes me and makes me sad that we have to watch the same thing over and over again. I worry about the future of my children. Families have been doing this for generations."

The latest incident of racism and police violence, in which the 46-year-old Floyd lost his life, must finally be the last: "We need change now! Can we be kind and respectful, listen to each other and learn from each other? Can we educate our children? ? " He himself wants to help bring about this long overdue change by supporting an organization that is not mentioned by name and which has made that change the agenda.
