Disappearance Death of Gaspard Ulliel: no responsibility should be engaged

It was a tragic skiing accident that cost the life of the young prodigy of French cinema Gaspard Ulliel. 48 hours after the shock that caused his death at a crossroads of blue slopes in the La Rosière ski area (Savoie), the public prosecutor of Albertville, Anne Gaches, gave more information about the investigation in lectures to our colleagues from Dauphine Libere.

The skier involved in the collision was heard, as well as two witnesses to the scene. According to these first testimonies and the observations made on the spot, the two skiers were moving side by side and collided. For the moment, it is difficult to say whether it was the shock or the fall that led to Mr. Ulliel’s death. This accident is very sad but the circumstances are quite simple, there is no particular complexity.

The investigation, entrusted to the CRS Alpes d’Albertville, is therefore continuing. But according to the prosecution, no responsibility should be engaged, neither on the side of the victim, nor on the side of the skier involved.

In view of the first elements, no excessive speed, inappropriate behavior or fault on the part of one of the two skiers was noted.

The classification of the investigation should therefore take place within a few days, once all the elements have been gathered, according to The Dauphine Libere. The public prosecutor also stresses that no autopsy will be carried out on the body of the victim.

A skier in shock

The daily explains that the other skier involved in the accident, of Lithuanian origin, was taken care of psychologically. The latter is physically unscathed and wore a helmet on the tracks on Tuesday, unlike Gaspard Ulliel.

If Mr. Ulliel had worn a helmet, would it have saved his life? I absolutely cannot say that.
