Disappearance of Emile: new searches organized in a village lake: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

It’s been more than two months since little Emile gave any sign of life. Since July 8, 2023, agents from the Marseille research section have been working hard to try to unravel the mystery of this disappearance. If the hope of finding the two and a half year old boy alive seems to have vanished, investigators are doing everything in their power to discover the truth. In Vernet, a small town in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence at the heart of this affair, research continues. After excavations organized under a concrete slab recently poured in a house in the village, which ultimately yielded nothing, a new, very specific location interests the police. According to information from BFM DICI, gendarmerie divers arrived at Le Vernet on the morning of Tuesday September 19, 2023.

Divers are once again searching this 1,500 m² body of water

A gendarmerie truck was seen on the banks of a small body of water, located behind the municipal swimming pool. At least two divers would be present according to our colleagues, to search the surroundings and the bottom of the body of water. Froma surface area of 1,500 m², it was originally used to prevent cases of fire. But “over time, it is also used for fishing and family outings”explains a resident to BFMTV. If investigators had already partially searched the premises – as a source close to the case indicates to the continuous news channel – they decided to return there in order to be entirely exhaustive in their investigations. “There is still nothing new”, affirms for the moment this same source. Indeed, 73 days after Emile’s sudden disappearance, the investigation is floundering. The gendarmes are studying each lead, from the most obvious to the most absurd, to elucidate this affair. Since August 21, 2023, the judicial information has also been reclassified as “abduction, arrest, detention and arbitrary confinement”, thus putting aside the theory according to which the little boy got lost alone. It remains to be seen whether the research in the small Vernet lake will finally make it possible to understand what happened to Emile.
