Disappearance of the Godard family: this day when the terrible cries of little Camille were heard in a hotel

On September 2, 1999, Doctor Yves Godard and his two children, Camille, 6, and Marius, 4, disappeared at sea. A few days later, the little girl was heard crying in a hotel in the Isle of man…

What really happened to the Godard family? This is the question that has plagued the whole of France for almost 25 years. On September 2, 1999, the Dr Yves Godard and her two children, Camille, 6, and Marius, 4, disappeared at sea after boarding a sailboat at the Saint-Malo marina. After the blood of Marie-France Godard, the doctor’s wife, was found in the family home, a massive manhunt was launched across the English Channel. But despite all the means implemented to find the father of the family and his children, no one has ever seen a living Godard again…

However, Yves Godard and his children have sometimes left traces behind them. In the second episode of the documentary Doctor Godard – The Man Who Wanted to Leave Everythingbroadcast this Sunday March 12 on TF1, Thierry Lezeau, director of investigation, says that several witnesses would have seen the doctor and his two children on the Isle of Man, in the open Irish Sea, between September 7 and 14 . The father of the family would have been recognized by the waiter of the Mannin hotel in Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man, and the heartbreaking cries of little Camille would have been heard by a cleaning lady working in the establishment. “There is a cleaning lady who will say that Camille was crying in the room, that she called her mom”says Thierry Lezeau.

An endless mystery

Investigators unfortunately learned too late that the Godards had passed through the Isle of Man, and they were never found. In June 2000, the skull of little Camille was fished out by a shellfish collector in the bay of Saint-Brieuc, off Erquy. His father’s tibia and femur were also found a few years later, in 2006. As for little Marius and his mother, Marie-France, their bodies have never been located.
