Disappeared from Deux-Sèvres: for the inhabitants, “it hurts the heart to see young people killed like that”

If we still do not officially know if the bodies found this Saturday in Puyravault are those of Leslie and Kevin, the investigation continues. Europe 1 went to Charente-Maritime and met several inhabitants who, despite the sadness vis-à-vis the young couple, are worried about the increase in drug trafficking in the region.

The day after the discovery of two bodies in Puyravault, we still do not officially know if they are indeed those of Leslie and Kevin, who have been missing for three months. Pending the progress of the investigation, three people have been indicted, including two for murder. Europe 1 visited Charente-Maritime where residents heard the news and shared mixed feelings, compassion for the young couple, but a certain fatalism when it comes to talking about the traffic drug.

“We hear a lot about drugs”

In the village of Courçon, a few kilometers from the hamlets where the bodies were found this Saturday, the case seems to have gone unnoticed at market time this morning. “Yes, it’s near our home, but we don’t talk about that too much,” admits a resident.

But for Virginie, one of the traders, the death of the young couple can only be linked to drug trafficking, which is increasingly widespread in the region. “No, it doesn’t surprise me too much because we hear a lot about drugs. Even in very small villages, we hear more and more of them. We see more and more people who come to get drugs. products. Even in front of my daughter’s school, there was a canine brigade to do checks. But it’s still very shocking, especially for the parents who are going to have to live with that. And honestly, if it happened to my girl, I won’t get over it.”

Whatever the motive, the observation is the same for Chantal: such a tragedy should not happen. “It hurts my heart to see that poor young people have been killed like this, whether it’s for narcotics or something else, the death is always the same. I find it horrible to see that we can kill someone, even for drugs.” The investigation continues this Sunday with the autopsy of the bodies found near Puyravault. A report of the results should be made public on Monday afternoon.
