Microsoft will soon strengthen the social aspect of its game consoles. Indeed, the famous Discord messenger will be coming to the Xbox ecosystem very soon.

For several years now, Discord has become the star application for PC gamers who want to chat with their friends during a game. This famous app will soon be available on our consoles. Last February, Sony rolled out a feature for users to connect their PSN and Discord accounts. This week, Microsoft takes the floor to formalize its partnership with instant messaging.

Two ecosystems meet

In the near future, Xbox users will be able to chat with loved ones on PC or mobile via Discord. Voice chat will be coming to Xbox Series X|S as well as Xbox One. Group calls will also land on the brand’s machines. A perfect tool for chatting while cross-playing titles like Halo Infinite and Minecraft.

To link an Xbox account to a Discord account, you will have to go to the “Group and chat” section of the console which will appear by pressing the Xbox button on the controller. Then click on “Try Discord voice chat on Xbox” and scan the QR Code that will appear on the screen to complete the connection.

Currently, the feature is only available to a few insider members. A larger scale deployment will take place in the coming weeks.
