Discord to cut 17% of its staff

Discord yesterday announced to its employees 170 upcoming layoffs in different departments, representing a 17% reduction in its workforce. A decision which aims to concentrate the company’s action and make it more agile.

“We’ve grown rapidly and scaled even faster, increasing our headcount fivefold since 2020,” recalls Jason Citron, CEO of Discord, “which has led to more projects and less efficiency in our operation.

He added: “The need to make our organization more agile and improve the way we work together is becoming increasingly evident. This is the main reason why we decided to downsize. »

This wave of layoffs is the largest announced to date by the company, after the layoffs last August which had already led to the departure of 4% of staff.
