The repair bonus was launched on November 7, 2023. This system allows all French people to benefit from reductions to have their clothes and shoes repaired by certified repairers. How it works ? We tell you everything.

The Repair Bonus was implemented on November 7, 2023. The French will thus be able to have their clothes and shoes repaired and benefit from reductions to do so. Why implement this unique system? First, for fight against waste and reduce the ecological footprint of overconsumption of clothing and shoes. Then, for “support changes in the behavior of the French while protecting their purchasing power and promoting the know-how of repairers and supporting the local economy and local crafts”explain Refashionthe only eco-organization in the textile, clothing, household linen and footwear sector (TLC) approved by the public authorities, in its press release.

The objective? 21.6 million fashion items repaired by 2028, an increase of 35% in the volume of textiles and shoes repaired compared to 2019 when 16 million pieces were repaired (according to ADEME). How it works ? What discounts are you entitled to? We tell you everything.

Repair bonus: save money while protecting the planet

This Repair Bonus allows a person to repair their clothing rather than throwing it away and buying a new one: a reflex that is good for the wallet, but also for the planet. And if you go to an authorized repairer, then you have significant reductions on repair costs. “It thus makes it possible to avoid new purchases by extending the lifespan of clothing and to make savings of €6 to €25 on the repair process”, indicates the Refashion press release. But in reality, how can we know the list of traders concerned? How to bring your piece?

Bonus repair: how does it work?

To encourage people to move towards repair, Refashion has tried to make the procedure as easy as possible: “With all the stakeholders, we have co-constructed a tool that is easy to adopt and capable of lasting over time”explains Elsa Chassagnette, head of the Reparation Fund at Refashion. “It has been observed that from 25/35% less on the bill, this could trigger a change of habit.” There is an interactive map on which you can consult the list of repairers certified by Refashion. It is available on the website www.bonusreparation.fr. This list is constantly evolving as Refashion tries to bring together more and more repairers in order to cover as much territory as possible. So, all you have to do is take your item and go to a store on the list to benefit from the Repair Bonus.
