It was in Venice that the Candela company wanted to formalize its new electric boat, a certain P-8 Voyager.
A water taxi that has the particularity… of flying over water.
A flying electric boat at Candela?
Specialized in electric boats, the Swedish company Candela has already developed various models, the latest being this amazing P-8 Voyager, which “flies” above the surface of the water. The boat is indeed equipped with foils (whose angle is automatically modified according to the speed), side appendages raising the hull above the water and giving it this aerial side.
The Candela P-8 Voyager is destined to replace traditional water taxis, with the added bonus here of a 100% electric motorization. The system is also ideal for areas sensitive to boat wakes, as hydrofoils leave virtually none in their path. According to Candela, the wake left by his models is no more important than that of the famous gondolas of Venice.
The Candela P-8 Voyager is equipped with a 50 kW engine and can perform up to 3000 hours of travel without any technical intervention required. It is able to navigate at the speed of 20 knots, and can reach a top speed of 30 knots. The 8.5 meter long boat can accommodate six passengers, in addition to the crew. Like modern electric cars, the beauty signed Candela is also connected, and can notably receive OTA updates.
