The inevitable happened ! Sony will soon launch a controller customizable for her PS5. Named DualSense Edge, this version was unveiled during the opening conference of Gamescom 2022.

And we guess very well what inspired the Japanese manufacturer when designing this new device.

A controller to join the elite!

Microsoft has always been ahead of Sony when it comes to customizable controllers. The best example being the excellent Xbox Elite (and its second version, the Xbox Elite Series 2) which undoubtedly remains among the most convincing in terms of ergonomics, customization options and handling in general. PlayStation had to fight back and this counter-attack took place this week at Gamescom.

During the opening ceremony, Sony Interactive Entertainment released a video presentation of its DualSense Edge. For the moment, the Japanese firm has not indicated the price or even the release date of its controller. But thanks to PlayStation-Blogwe were able to learn about the different functionalities of the controller thought for the PS5.

Customizable and predictable

It’s very simple, the DualSense Edge will probably do everything we are entitled to expect from a controller in the vein of the Xbox Elite. Thus, the controls will be customizable since the player will be able to deactivate and remap specific buttons. The sensitivity of the sticks can also be adjusted. In addition, the travel of the triggers will be modifiable and the dead zones reduced.

  • user interface for configuring the gamepad (via a dedicated button);
  • three types of caps for interchangeable sticks and dorsal keys;
  • replaceable stick modules (sold separately);
  • integrated DualSense features (haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, etc.).
