Diary of a future president is one of the new original flagship programs available on Disney +. Since the streaming platform finally arrives in France, we decided to explain to you why this teenage and feel good series is unmistakable. Elena is a 12 year old Cuban American teenager who wants to become President. While waiting to see her ambitions become reality, she must go through the vagaries of adolescence and write her daily life in a diary. A few years later, in the middle of the presidential campaign, the young woman fell back on this famous newspaper. It is the beginning of an immersion in a period of doubt, emotion and laughter. Punctuated by flashbacks, the series highlights a heroine as we like them, the one we would like to see more often in teen series.

Diversity as rarely seen in series

The strength of a future president's journal is the diversity it represents. And this is a more than important theme to note in the current American context. It is a Cuban-American family that is in the spotlight and that makes us feel good. All this, without counting the promotion of a mixed couple since Elena's mother, Gabi, is in a relationship with a white man. Even today, this is something that we still rarely see in television series.

Then, the 5-star cast of this new Disney series served this cause brilliantly. Indeed, the faces are not unknown to the general public. In the role of adult Elena, we can find Gina Rodriguez, the essential hero of the hit series Jane the virgin. In the role of mom, there is Selenis Leyva who was in Orange is the new black on Netflix. But that's not all ! Jessica Marie Garcia is also there and plays a friend and close colleague of Gabi. The actress made herself known to the general public in On my blocks. Suffice to say that this beautiful world contributes to the quality of this series if feel good.

An inspiring woman portrait

Elena, embodied by Gina Rodriguez therefore, is in the midst of the presidential campaign and therefore reconnects with what has brought her so far. In the end, the future president was a teenager like the others and this is undoubtedly what inspires the most in this series signed Disney +: contemplate the past of a woman of power and see life so simple and authentic that she lived before she got there. Diary of a future president is before the genesis of the rise to power of a woman. Adolescent girls will be able to find something in it and say that, yes, anything is possible.

What makes this new series more authentic is also the slightly darker and more delicate themes it evokes. Young Elena is in mourning. She lost her dad a few years ago and has to cope with the emotional burden that this creates. The teenager tries to get used to the arrival of her mother's new companion in her life. This complex situation, experienced by many children, is very well dealt with in the series, all the more that we see a positive view on this. Without ever being in the mix, Diary of a future president thus manages to make people laugh as much as to move.
