Good news for beneficiaries of the back-to-school allowance (ARS): for the 2023-2024 school year, resource caps increased by 1.6%as noted Free lunch. For example, the resource cap for a family with a dependent child goes from 25,370 euros to 25,775 euros. According to the website of the Family Allowance Fund (CAF), the amount increases to 31,723 euros for a household with two children dependent, to 37,671 euros with three childrenand to 43,619 euros with four children. “If your resources slightly exceed the ceilings, a differential back-to-school allowance may be paid to you”, specifies the CAF. Note that the income taken into account is that of the year 2021.

For the start of the 2022 school year, the amount of the ARS was increased to 392.05 euros for a child aged 6 to 10, 413.69 euros for those aged 11 to 14, and 428.02 euros for those aged 15 to 18. The steps to be taken differ according to the age of the child: if he is between 6 and 15 years old on December 31 following the start of the school year, there is no step to take; if the child is under 6 years old and is registered in CP, a school certificate must be sent to the CAF; finally, if he is between 16 and 18 years old and is in school or in an apprenticeship, he must declare it from his account on the digital space of CAF (named “My Account Space”) or on the mobile application.

Placed children will be able to receive assistance

The CAF indicates that the aid is paid at the end of August preceding the start of the school year. It should be noted that parents whose child has been entrusted to the Childhood Social Assistance (ASE) will not be able to receive the ARS; the child concerned will be able to recover the sum paid on reaching majority, from the Caisse des dépôts et consignations. Aspiring beneficiaries who want to make a first request must download a form on their digital personal space of CAF and send it.
