Polestar has just formalized its new “small SUV” Polestar 4.

And in its design, there is a detail that turns out to be particularly confusing…

The Polestar 4 electric SUV is official

The range of electric vehicles signed Polestar continues to expand, with the presentation today of a new small SUV: Polestar 4. The car is designed from the SEA platform (Geely group) and presents itself as a sports SUV compact, with a small “cut” side.

And if the design of electric vehicles has tended to surprise us for some time now, we have to admit that Polestar has pushed the cursor even further here, since the SUV ignores… the rear window. You read that right, the Polestar 4 SUV has no rear glass.

A camera and a screen as a rear window

With its new SUV, Polestar has therefore decided to inaugurate a new way of monitoring its rear, with the presence on board of a screen, which will display in real time the video captured by the camera placed on the panoramic glass roof. A process already released on the side of the mirrors on certain models, such as on the small Honda-e for example.

On board, we find here a 10-inch instrumentation, a head-up display, as well as a very large 15.4-inch screen for the center console.

On the look side, the Polestar 4 is also devoid of frames at the level of the windows, and has retractable handles to refine the aerodynamic part.

A power that varies from 272 to 544 hp

As far as the engine is concerned, this new Polestar 4 will be powered by a 272 hp (343 Nm) electric unit installed at the rear in its entry-level version, and powered by a 102 kWh battery, enough to display a autonomy (according to the manufacturer) around 600 km.

In its top-of-the-range version, we will benefit from a dual engine of 544 hp (686 Nm), this time with all-wheel drive. Recently, remember that the manufacturer has allowed owners of a Polestar 2 to benefit from a power boost of 68 hp, thanks to an update… paying.

The new Polestar 4 will start its commercial career in China at the end of 2023, and will arrive in stride in the rest of the world.
