Google has just revealed during the Google I/O 2022 his first smart watchunder Wear OS and which takes full advantage of the acquisition of Fitbit by the search engine.
We’ve been waiting for this connected watch made by Google for years and the brand has finally presented the Pixel Watch in detail.
A round and sleek design
Many leaks had already revealed the design of the connected watch, but this official presentation allows us to see in detail the object developed for many months by the brand’s engineers.
The Pixel Watch will therefore be a round-shaped watch, with large screen borders according to the first visuals broadcast on stage. We can also see a button located at the top right but Google has not said more about the features associated with it.
The watch will offer its own attachment system and Google should logically sell different types of straps so that each user can adapt their watch to their current look. The very brief presentation only allowed us to see the silicone models that will be offered by default with the product.
A 100% Google experience with a touch of Fitbit
The Pixel Watch will obviously run on Wear OS, Google’s home operating system for connected watches. The search engine will offer a 100% Google experience, with the most popular services in its catalog highlighted and easily accessible with a gesture.
The Pixel Watch will also offer extensive integration of technologies developed by Fitbit, now owned by Google since 2018. Google has indicated in particular that sleep tracking will be directly imported from the American manufacturer’s devices. We can also expect precise monitoring of sports activities, but Google has not been more forthcoming on the details of each feature.
The Pixel Watch will be available next fall, at the same time as the next Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro and we will have to wait a few more months to learn more about this first Google connected watch.
