Discrimination in hiring, announced testings

To combat discrimination in hiring, Julien Denormandie announced an operation which consists in sending, for the same job offer, two CVs where the only difference will be the modification of the candidate's origin and / or his address in a working-class neighborhood.

Emmanuel Macron had promised at the start of his mandate to fight discrimination in hiring. The government is ready to take action this summer to better tackle this problem, which is still common in the workplace. This Sunday, June 14, the Minister of the City Julien Denormandie actually announced new ones "testings" within companies to identify discrimination in employment. "We must fight discrimination on a daily basis", assured the Minister in an interview with the Parisian. Julien Denormandie spoke of tests organized by the government which had borne fruit since this notably allowed "to pin 7 companies out of the 40 tested".

This new test operation consists of send, for the same job offer, two identical CVs with as unique differences the origin of the candidate and / or an address in a popular district. The minister also announced the upcoming arrival of a decree obliging "all real estate agencies and professional associations to undergo anti-discrimination training " every three years.

Julien Denormandie then recommended the deletion of the word "race" of the preamble to the Constitution, which states that "every human being, without distinction of race, religion or belief, has inalienable and sacred rights".

This Sunday in the JDD, Minister Gabriel Attal said he was worried about "fatal forces" who would seek to thrive on the resentment of youth for "impose a race struggle. " He then called to "a collective effort to save the youngest"in the face of the current economic crisis by mentioning the fact that the sustainability of the civic reserve set up during the Covid crisis could be a track.

Last January, the Secretary of State Marlène Schiappa announced to be favorable to the establishment of a practice of "name and shame"to combat discrimination in hiring. This would aim to publicly name the companies that use these discriminatory practices in order to confront them with shame and cause them to suffer image damage with economic effects in order to destroy these drifts.
