Disgaea 7 was announced today to everyone’s surprise since given the financial difficulties of Nippon Ichi and the rather lukewarm reception of the last episode last year, we didn’t expect new adventures so quickly but we’ll never say no to another dose of Prinnies, man!
Disgaea 7 goes from isekai to weeb (wait what?)
Disgaea 7 will be released in Japan on January 26, 2023 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Switch. And the country will be at the center of the game, at least its main inspiration. Since everything will take place in what can be translated as the Archipelago of Underworlds Hinomoto populated by samurai. The place has been invaded by the demon-admiral Opener who wants to destroy the Bushido proudly followed by the inhabitants.
To stand up to him, we find the demon Fuji who begins to spit blood at the very idea of human emotions such as love or friendship. And to accompany it, we find piririkaan otaku outsider who came to explore Hinomoto after consuming every possible manga and film possible and would often encounter a reality far different from fiction.
Prinny makes a terrific kaiju
We will remain in the 3D graphic style which had displeased some of the fans so much, but we will still have several gameplay changes including the DodekaMax which will make characters the size of kaijus. The reincarnation will arrive for the weapons in order to improve them and that of the characters will allow them to change classes to accumulate the forces.
We must admit that we did not quite understand the principle of the ranked mode Player against Player. But it’s believed to be about putting together a team and programming its behavior before sending it out to face another person’s team and AI. It must be said that everything will become clearer when the game is announced for the West, hopefully soon enough.
Disgaea 7 will therefore arrive in Japan next January 26 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Switch, and it could be that the platforms are not exactly the same with us as Western PlayStation players who have waited another year remember with sorrow to play Disgaea 6 despite the simultaneous release in the country of origin.
