From September 21st, “Blamieren oder Kassieren” will celebrate its debut as a primetime show. All information about the new offshoot of the quiz format.

Elton (52) returns to TV with “Disgrace or Cash” – in prime time on RTL. From September 21st (8:15 p.m.), the channel, which took over the format from competitor ProSieben, will show every Thursday and in twelve episodes. What can viewers expect in the primetime edition?

“Of course the red jacket will be particularly shiny at prime time,” says Elton in the RTL interview, promising to wear his typical red “Disgrace or Cash” jacket. “Maybe I’ll even wear a red vinyl jacket. Prepare to be surprised!” He is really looking forward to the show, which was “really overdue” for him. He attributes the fact that the quiz format has become so popular over the years to the clear game principle. “Questions are asked and whoever has the most answers wins. That’s all. The show has the same secret of success: it’s simple and uncomplicated, just like me.”

In the new edition, two celebrity candidates will compete against each other and have to prove their knowledge in a special quiz duel. “In the next, rousing final round it will be all or nothing,” says the broadcaster. A guest from the studio audience will be personally selected by presenter Elton and will then compete against the previously victorious celebrity. The “normal” candidate can then also score points with his knowledge and perhaps even win 10,000 euros at the end.

Some celebrities who will take on the quiz challenge have already been determined: “GZSZ” star Susan Sideropoulos (42), comedian Michael Mittermeier (57), “Let’s Dance” juror Joachim Llambi (59), singer Sasha (51) , presenter Andrea Kiewel (58) and soccer star Kevin Großkreutz (35) answer the tricky questions.

History of the show

In June 2022, “Blamieren oder Kassieren” already had its first major appearance: as the new show “Blamieren oder Kassieren XL”, the format was broadcast every Wednesday at 9:25 p.m. on ProSieben and thus following the new edition of “TV total” with Sebastian Pufpaff (46) shown. Previously, the quiz format had only appeared as part of Stefan Raab’s (56) “TV total”, “Schlag den Raab”, “Schlag den Star”, “Schlag den Henssler”, “Schlag den Besten” or “TV total” – New edition served. In the original, Stefan Raab played the quiz on his show against a studio guest from the audience. In the other formats, the candidates competed against each other. Elton can never be missed as the quiz master in the red jacket.

The biggest challenge in moderating the quiz was reading out the questions, Elton explained in an interview with spot on news in June 2022 at the start of the “XL” edition. “The topics are so diverse, varied and current that I constantly have to learn new names, foreign words and the correct pronunciation. It’s about money, so everything has to be done correctly.” And who has impressed him the most in the “embarrass or cash in” story so far? “There’s no question that Stefan is a star. And I’m not just saying that because I’m contractually obliged to give this answer. King Lustig’s general knowledge is really extraordinary. And the impressive thing about it isn’t that he knows so much “But that I have no idea when he even had the time to do all this. He would definitely be the ultimate quiz boss.”

By the way, another format from Stefan Raab is coming back in 2024: “Schlag den Besten” will also be moderated by Elton, there is no start date yet.
