Dismembered woman, found in Buttes-Chaumont: her husband admits to having killed her

A little over ten days ago, the dismembered body of a 46-year-old woman was found in the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. This Friday, her husband acknowledged the facts and confessed to being the cause of his wife’s death, AFP learned, confirming information from the Parisian. The husband had been placed in police custody Thursday as part of a judicial investigation opened on March 17 for murder, attack on the integrity of a corpse and concealment of a corpse. He will be referred in the evening, the same source added.

The husband had reported the disappearance of his wife

The husband had reported the disappearance of his wife to the police on February 6, while on social networks he had mentioned it on January 31. The dismembered body of this 46-year-old mother who lived in Montreuil in Seine-Saint-Denis was discovered on February 13 and 14. On the 13th, a plastic bag containing the pelvis and thighs was found under a pile of green waste, by municipal parks and gardens agents, in Buttes-Chaumont, in the northeast of the capital. The next day, other remains, including the head, were found by investigators.

Less than 48 hours after the discovery of the first part of the body, the police officers of the criminal brigade, seized of the investigation, had identified the victim thanks to the analysis of his fingerprints. Several media, including BFMTV, revealed last Friday that the husband’s statements, deemed inconsistent, had aroused the suspicions of the police. According to the news channel, the husband notably “indicated that she had gone out the night of January 30 to 31, while the CCTV cameras in the building do not show it”.

Preliminary investigation for breach of professional secrecy

The investigators “realized that he had not gone to certain places in the capital to look for his wife, as he had initially claimed”, according to BFMTV. The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened a preliminary investigation for violation of professional secrecy in connection with these claims by the channel.

Created in 1867 under Napoleon III who wanted to ventilate Paris, the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont is frequented by many joggers, families on weekends or partygoers who appreciate its trendy bars.
