Assia MB, 46, lived with her husband and their three children in a building adjoining the Beaumonts park in Montreuil, in Seine-Saint-Denis.
A building where a wave of incomprehension reigns today. And for good reason, none of the inhabitants of the fifteen-storey tower recognize the woman they are presented with today as their neighbor. “I’ve lived here for fifteen years, I’ve never seen her!, exclaims Imène in the columns of Parisian. Him, I know him but her, we’ve never seen her. He is used to taking care of his children. He goes out early in the morning. He is a very discreet man. Sometimes we bump into each other in the elevator. They didn’t live together!” Same story with other neighbors, flabbergasted to learn that the woman presented on television lived a few steps from their home. “What, she lived here!“, wondered a neighbor. “The lady cut into pieces, is it here?”adds a retiree.

Among all the residents interviewed by our colleagues, only a neighbor remembers having already met Assia. “Yes, she is a little lady, she confides. I met her with her children. But without her husband.” If it is not always easy to know the faces of all your neighbors, these testimonies raise questions about the atmosphere that reigned in the couple. Did Assia really live with her husband, or did she only come to the building occasionally to take care of the children? For now, the mystery remains, but the victim’s husbandwhich had reported her missing to the police on February 6 latter, is now one of the suspects.
