Dismembered woman in Buttes-Chaumont: twist in the investigation, her husband in police custody

Ten days after the discovery of the dismembered body of Assia Matoug in the Buttes-Chaumont park, the police would have taken her husband into custody, as revealed by Le Parisien.

The investigation is ongoing. While the body of Assia Matoug, a 46-year-old woman, was found dismembered on February 13 in the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, a major twist has just taken place. Indeed, as revealed The Parisian this February 23, the husband of Assia Matoug was taken into custody in the premises of the criminal brigade. The couple’s three children would also be heard, as part of a free hearing.

An investigation was opened on February 17 for “murder, attack on the integrity of a corpse and concealment of a corpse”. This is marked by many gray areas, from the disturbing testimonies of certain neighbors to the inconsistencies in the account of the events given by Assia Matoug’s husband, Youcef. However, no charges have yet been brought against him. The question posed in particular by the police is to know why the husband of Assia Matoug took six days before reporting his disappearance, dating from January 31.

Once the disappearance of the quarantine established, an investigation had been opened, before the macabre discovery made on February 13 by cleaning agents from the Buttes-Chaumont park. A discovery made in intriguing circumstances since the body parts were found in a part of the park closed to the public. As BFMTV recalls, it was the analysis of the victim’s fingerprints that allowed the identification.
