Dismissals, farewell messages… Is the Twitter social network close to the end?

Leak of advertisers, massive layoffs, cascading resignations… the blue bird is floundering. After the massive new departure of Twitter employees who refused to accept the ultimatum issued by Elon Musk, the future of the social network is uncertain. This massive exodus raises fears of problems with the operation of the platform. For some, Twitter would even be heading straight for its extinction.

The end of an era ?

According to the American specialized press, the risks of seeing Twitter experiencing serious problems in the near future are very high. On the network, there is therefore an atmosphere of the end of the era. Goodbyes, thanks. “It was a hell of a trip”, launches for example several influencers. Like a mourning that is already taking place, but also anxiety and bewilderment, because no one knows what Twitter will become.

Several thousand people have already jumped ship since Elon Musk’s takeover and the company is now facing a severe lack of personal. In some teams, there would only be a handful of engineers left, instead of the several dozen who ran the social network. After the failure of his ultimatum, Elon Musk connects him, the meetings. He is still trying to persuade key executives to stay. The billionaire also plays the humor card. He posted an image of a bluebird at his own funeral on his Twitter account.

“Freedom of expression, not freedom of access”

The new boss of the social network is also continuing his crusade for freedom of expression. “Twitter’s new policy is freedom of speech, not freedom of access,” he tweeted on Friday. “Hate tweets will not be featured and will be demonetized to the fullest, so no advertising or other revenue for Twitter. You won’t find the tweet unless you specifically search for it, which is no different from the rest of the internet .”

Thus, banned accounts, including several conservatives, have been reinstated, but no decision has been made regarding that of Donald Trump. Recently, the boss of Space X launched a poll on his own Twitter account for the reinstatement of the former American president, before adding “Vox Populi, Vox Dei” in Latin, or literally, “the voice of the people is the voice of God”.
