After series on Obi-Wan Kenobi and Boba Fett which were not really unanimous, the next series Star Wars is unveiled with a new trailer and a launch date. Andor will be released on September 21 on Disney+.

Disney + failing to win unanimous support from fans of Star Wars with cult characters from the original saga, we return to lesser-known personalities. Next September 21 will be released Andor, a new series in the galaxy far, far away, which will not really have room for error. After the rather very cold returns reserved for the film Solo and series centered on Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, hard to expect a miracle.

However, the first images revealed in recent trailers – including one released today – are reassuring. It must be said that the character of Cassian Andor comes from what is often referred to as one of the best productions Star Wars since the takeover of Lucasfilm by Disney, RogueOne, where he was already interpreted by the Mexican actor Diego Luna. A very little-known hero, therefore, on whom there will logically be fewer expectations.

Forest Whitaker and Stellan Skarsgård in the cast

The series will tell the beginnings of the rebellion against the Empire, in a style close to Gareth Edwards’ film. For the occasion, screenwriter Tony Gilroy is also returning to writing. In the trailer, there are many elements that should have fans stamping their feet: the galactic senate of Coruscant, the Death Troopers, the space battles in TIE Fighter, the returns of Forest Whitaker and Genevieve O’Reilly in Saw Gerrera and Mon Mothma… Strengths to which is added the presence in the cast of a size, Stellan Skarsgård, in a mysterious role of double agent.

Cassian Andor, it seems, will only be an anchor point around which several intrigues and conflicts will agglomerate with the aim of putting an end to the tyranny of the Empire. In short, a beautiful program which will have the heavy task of preparing the ground for another series centered on a character appreciated by connoisseurs, Ahsoka Tano, whose release is scheduled for 2023. By then, we will have found the other safe bet from Star Wars disney version, The Mandalorianwhose third season is due out next February.
