STORY – The Republican governor threatens to withdraw his tax benefits from the American group after he took a stand against the “Don’t Say Gay” law.
Disney Corporation is caught in the middle of a culture war that is tearing America apart. While the Hollywood giant’s productions, heroes and theme parks want to embody family values and celebrate the magic of childhood, Bob Chapek, its CEO, finds himself under pressure from his board of directors to quickly find a solution. elegant to the conflict between Disney and the gay and transgender civil rights lobby on one side and elected Republicans on the other.
The case takes an increasingly political turn. Ron DeSantis, the Republican governor of Florida, is threatening to strip Disney of the enormous tax and regulatory privileges the company has in Orlando, where four of its theme parks employing some 80,000 people are located. At the same time, commentators and experts relayed by certain American media demand the resignation of Bob Chapek.
