DISNEY+: Echo, a new release date in a dark and violent trailer with the Kingpin for the first Marvel Spotlight series

There are only a few days left before the grand finale of season 2 of Loki on Disney+ and the arrival in theaters The Marvelsbut Marvel Studios is already preparing the ground for the sequel, which will be much more down to earth. Indeed, this is the series Echo which has been talked about again and was not particularly expected by fans of the MCU. Announced at the end of 2021 during the Disney+ Daythis series will be centered on this “antagonist” who appeared in Hawkeyedeaf and with a prosthesis in her right leg, a rather surprising choice especially since the first synopsis revealed in May 2022 told us about a origin story of Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) who would reconnect with his Native American roots. The fact that we learned a year later, in May 2023, that it was going to be broadcast all at once also showed that the broadcaster was not hoping to create any hype. Things have changed a little since then and it is no longer on November 29 that she will arrive, but on Wednesday January 10, 2024, as well of course Disney+ that on Hulu in the USA, where it will remain accessible until April 9 only. A first trailer accompanied this news and promises us a series TV-MAeither with violence and which is intended for a mature audiencerequiring the Parental control in France by only being accessible to “16+” profiles.

And this is a pleasant surprise in terms of tonesince a parallel heavily tinged with violence is made between Maya / Echo And Wilson Fisk / THE Caid (Vincent d’Onofrio) who will also make his return and acts as narrator here. This father figure obviously survived the altercation with his protégé at the end of Hawkeye, who obviously stuck a bullet in his face, since he lost the use of one eye (at least temporarily). This is obviously reminiscent of the comics where his two eyes are there. For the rest, it’s difficult to know what will happen, except that Fisk will undoubtedly try to bring the protagonist back to his side. Moreover, pause at 1:27 to see Daredevil (Charlie Cox)!

The first two episodes ofEcho were broadcast during the powwow annual event of the Choctaw Nation in the presence of director Sydney Freeland, since the five-episode series will highlight the culture, history and legends of the Choctaws, of which Maya Lopez.

It’s so exciting to be able to present Echo and it’s extremely meaningful to me to have this screening to the Choktaw Nation. One of the things we’re most excited about is being able to represent Chocktaw culture, hopefully, in an authentic and exciting way.

This is where it was revealed Marvel Spotlighta label referring to comics and which will offer stories less connected to the overall framework of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Evil tongues will say that this is the case for most projects in recent years. This should allow the proposed stories to exist more independently and in this case to highlight characters street level which will undoubtedly have no link with the events on a cosmic scale which are being plotted within the Multiverse Saga.

`

Here’s what Brad Winderbaum says, Head of Streaming, Television and Animation at the house of Marvel Studios :

Marvel Spotlight gives us a platform to bring more grounded, character-driven stories to the screen and, in the case of Echo, focusing on street-level issues rather than broader continuity of the MCU. Just like comic fans didn’t need to read Avengers or Fantastic Four to enjoy a Ghost Rider Spotlight comic, our audience doesn’t need to have seen other Marvel series to understand what’s going on in the story of Maya.

Marvel Spotlight should allow regulars of the MCU to know what type of project they are dealing with, but we feared that this would confuse the general public even morewho since after Avengers: Endgame must juggle between feature films with few links between them and series Disney+ which may or may not be complementary to them or even fully enable their understanding.
