After Netflix, it’s Disney’s turn to modify its streaming offer. The American giant has announced several changes to come for its platform and among them, the arrival of a package with advertising. After a conclusive test in the United States, the offer will be offered in the rest of the world, including France, from November 1.

At the price of 5.99e per month, it will allow smaller budgets to subscribe and have access to exclusive content, as well as a fairly rich catalog. But with this good news comes bad news.

Disney+ is adjusting its prices, as shown in the table below. While the most expensive package is currently 89.90 euros per year, it will increase in a few months to 119.90 euros.

Disney+ advises that “subscribers will keep their current subscription, which will be rebranded as Disney+ Premium, and will have the option to upgrade to Standard Membership or Standard Membership with Advertising.”

In other words, without modification on your part, you will automatically switch to the highest package. Be careful though, if you downgrade your plan, you will only be able to benefit from 2 screens against the current 4.

The hunt for account sharing

This is the black point of all streaming platforms. While Netflix and Paramount have tackled the problem, Disney is counting do it from 2024. Big-eared house boss Bob Iger said his team is already working on the issue and subscribers using a third-party account should start worrying by the end of the year.

This strategy obviously aims to increase the number of subscribers and stem the losses that have affected the company for several months. After changing its content strategy, Disney is now tackling the very heart of the problem. To see if it will be paid, as for Netflix.
