The American company could well offer something other than a video-on-demand service in the future. These are continuous channels, like on television, which could land at Disney+.
Competition between the different streaming giants is fierce, given the number of companies embarking on the adventure. It is therefore necessary to always innovate, especially when you are not the undisputed market leader, namely Netflix. Disney+ could well have an idea up its sleeve that will differentiate it from other platforms, with the possible creation of streaming channels for certain types of content.
New channels continuously, like on TV
Would you like to be able to sit on your couch, turn on the TV, click on the Disney+ icon, and simply select a channel, which will stream content to you without you having to specifically choose what to watch? This is the idea that the American giant is currently developing according to the media The Information.
Disney+ could thus offer streaming channels, like on television, offering episodes and films from franchises such as Star Wars or Marvel. Pixar productions could also benefit from it. The subscriber could thus have an option thanks to which he can watch productions that he already knows and appreciates, and with a lower level of attention, such as a background sound when carrying out another activity (which has says housekeeping?).
A model to apply to many series?
This model would be so close to television that these continuous channels would also include advertisements, despite the status of paying subscriber. The idea, if it is currently oriented towards only a few franchises, could be applied to many types of very well-known shows with an extremely high number of episodes. We obviously think here more of The Simpsons than The Young and the Restless!
The television model is not only eyed by Disney+. Its biggest rival, Netflix, is still considering the possibility of creating television channels that also include advertisements. So, after becoming the future of television, would streaming now be the past of this same television?
See the offer
7.7
- Disney classics in one place
- Exclusive Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars series
- A reasonable price (except in 4K)
It was highly anticipated and did not disappoint. Disney+ is not a rival to Netflix, but a complementary offering, aimed particularly at children (young and old) and more broadly towards the family. The Star universe, for its part, is starting to bear fruit by offering more and more original or exclusive series. It’s a shame, however, that the service continues to lose features and gain constraints.
