Lucasfilm has just made official what we strongly suspected: the series Ahsoka will return for a season 2 on Disney+while The Mandalorian will also be back, but not in series.
In 2024, the future of Star Wars will normally only be on the small screen with no less than four shows expected: the new series Skeleton Crew And The Acolyte and the new seasons of The Bad Batch and D’Andor. But Lucasfilm is already thinking about 2025 and beyond by formalizing two projects, in addition to those already expected, such as the film with actress Daisy Ridley.
THE Mandalorian and Grogu return, but not in series
But before the release of the latter, hitherto expected to be the first Star Wars film which would be produced and broadcast from the unloved Star Wars: Episode IX, The Rise of Skywalker, place to The Mandalorian & Grogu. Directed by Jon Favreau, this feature film planned for the cinema will be produced by the usual team, namely Favreau himself, Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni.
Regarding this film which will enter production this year, Jon Favreau declares: “ I loved telling stories set in the rich world created by George Lucas. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting “. The bad news in all this is that we probably shouldn’t wait for a season 4 to The Mandalorian on Disney+.
Ahsoka will come back for a season 2
In the announcement made by Lucasfilm around The Mandalorian & Grogua short sentence also confirms that Dave Filoni is working on the development of season 2 ofAhsoka. The show carried by Rosaria Dawson, although imperfect, deserved at least this to conclude some of its narrative arcs.
Lucasfilm specifies that Filoni is also busy on another Star Wars feature film, as are Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and James Mangold. The firm obviously does not specify which films these are. According to the latest news, Obaid-Chinoy’s is normally where Rey is, while Mangold’s should be interested in the very first Jedi.
