Disney: no Avatar 5 before 2031, postponements for Phases 5 and 6 of the MCU and 3 Star Wars dated, the film release schedule is falling behind

Well, it’s been a long time disney hadn’t hit us. Often accustomed to completely modifying its film release schedule for the coming years during the COVID-19 health crisis, the entertainment giant has just postponed many release dates for future feature films, this time visibly due to production delays and the current writers’ strike.

Already, on the side ofAvatarwhile we thought the pentalogy launched following the arrival of The Way of the Water in December 2022, everything will get complicated. Forget the releases in December 2024, 2026 and 2028 for the next three installments: Avatar 3 will be released in the United States on December 19, 2025, Avatar 4 on December 21, 2029 and Avatar 5 December 31, 2031more than two decades after the release of the first episode…

There is also a game of musical chairs at marvel studios : Captain America: Brave New World is postponed from May 3 to July 26, 2024, Thunderbolts as of December 20, 2024, Blade as of February 14, 2025 and Fantastic Four to May 2, 2025. The only one to pull out of the game is Deadpool 3which is brought forward from November 8 to May 3, 2024. THE Marvel Cinematic Universe still takes a hit until the end of his Phase 6 : Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is postponed from May 2, 2025 to May 1, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars from May 1, 2026 to May 7, 2027

On the side of Star Warsone project has been delayed from December 19, 2025 to May 22, 2026 and others are scheduled for December 18, 2026 and December 17, 2027. It seems like lucasfilm has wiped the slate clean of all its projects to focus on the films of James Mangold, Dave Filoni and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, so it could be these three. Otherwise, the Moana/Moana in live action produced by Dwayne Johnson will be released on June 27, 2025, and theAlien by Fede Alverez on August 16, 2024. It will therefore clearly be necessary to be patient before finding your favorite franchises in the cinema…

Waiting for, Avatar: The Waterway is available on 4K Blu-ray from €23.99 on Amazon.co.uk.
