While Disney is currently working on the live adaptation of the animated film “Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs”, Peter Dinklage violently attacked the film in a podcast.
While Marc Webb is in the midst of preparing a live version of Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs for Disney, comedian Peter Dinklage, known for playing Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, attacked the remake in the podcast “WTFby Marc Maron.
As a reminder, Rachel Zegler, recently featured in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, and Gal Gadot will be the stars of this new adaptation. But for Dinklage to make this movie again”no sense“.
The actor clarifies:There is a lot of hypocrisy. Without wanting to offend anyone, I was a little surprised when they announced that they were giving the role of Snow White to a Latin actress while at the same time they are trying to tell the story of Snow White -Snow and the Seven Dwarfs. Take a step back and look at what you are doing there! It makes no sense to me.“
“They keep making this fucking backward story”
Dinklage clarifies the reason for his anger: “They’re progressive in a way but they keep doing this backward fucking story where seven dwarves live together in a cave. What are you doing ? Have I done nothing to advance the cause? I guess I’m not important enough. The actress and the team have all my respect, but personally it shocks me.”
The studio hasn’t responded and has yet to announce its plans for this release’s dwarves. Peter Dinklage added that he would be excited if the studio gave the fairy tale “a whacky, cool, or progressive twist“, but the latter remains puzzled by the idea of just retelling the traditional story of Snow White in live action.
The production of the film begins this year, no release date has yet been announced.
Peter Dinklage will star in a musical adaptation of Cyrano by Joe Wright on March 30. The actor holds the title role and gives the reply to Haley Bennett (Roxanne), Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Christian) and Ben Mendelsohn (De Guiche).
