Cinderella
In Charles Perrault’s original tale, Cinderella wore slippers of “vair” (a kind of fur) and not “glass”. Is this an intentional modification or a translation error? Still, the Disney studios have equipped their princess with transparent, glass slippers, making their version the reference in the minds of the public.
Pocahontas
Intending to make the feature film more approachable for children, the animators initially wanted to give Pocahontas a third companion, in addition to the hummingbird Fleet and the raccoon Meiko. In reference to the Thanksgiving holiday, this character was to be a turkey, but the idea was quickly abandoned. This hesitation among the artists of the film to choose the friends of Pocahontas is also related in the attraction “The Art of Disney Animation” of the Walt Disney Studios park in Paris.
