The streaming service Disney + would like to introduce a cheaper subscription option internationally in the coming year.

Disney+ plans to introduce a cheaper subscription option. The streaming service announced this on March 4th. With this alternative, however, customers will then see advertising. In the USA, the subscription is to be introduced at the end of 2022 at a lower price. For international markets, Disney+ plans to launch the option in 2023.

Details still unclear

It is currently not known at what price the cheaper subscription will then be available. It’s also unclear how much advertising the streaming service will run. In Germany, a subscription currently costs EUR 8.99 per month or EUR 89.90 per year, depending on the option selected. The conventional subscriptions without advertising will continue to exist in the future. Further details are to be announced at a later date.

With this step, Disney wants to establish the service with an even broader audience. According to the press release, Disney+ sees the introduction of the new subscription option as a central component of its goal of having a total of 230 to 260 million subscribers by the 2024 financial year.
