Disney+: these Marvel and Star Wars series will soon be released on 4K UHD Blu-ray

Don’t put away your Blu-ray player just yet. For the first time in its history, the Disney+ streaming platform will offer 4K UHD Blu-ray versions of several of its previously exclusive programs, which will be available from fall 2023.

New steelbook and bonuses

It’s a small revolution in the world of streaming platforms: the Marvel series Wanda Vision And Lokiand the two seasons of the Star Wars series The Mandalorian will have the right to their physical version, in neat Steelbook editions.

The Season 1 4K UHD Blu-ray Box Set Loki will be available from September 26, 2023. Just in time for the release of season 2 of the series on Disney+, scheduled for October 6.

The box of Wanda Vision will be available from November 28, 2023. Released in January 2021, the mini-series was the first Marvel production for Disney +, and the first official program of Phase IV of the MCU.

Star Wars fans will have to be a little more patient: the series’ season 1 and 2 box sets The Mandalorian will only arrive on December 12, 2023.

All these 4K UHD Blu-ray boxes will be offered in Steelbook versions, designed by the artist Attila Szarka, and will include many new bonuses. If these are not all revealed yet, we know that the box Loki will include a making-of, an orientation video presented by Miss Minutes, deleted scenes and a blooper.

The choice of these programs is not trivial: The Mandalorian, Loki And Wanda Vision remain the most popular on Disney+ to this day. Admittedly, since the advent of streaming platforms, the physical media market has been in decline. It has gone from $19.7 billion in revenue in the United States in 2017 to $7.2 billion in 2023. But offering prestigious Blu-rays of these programs remains a profitable approach for Disney. To the point of reversing the trend?

Note that a Steelbook of the film Preyprequel to the saga predator, and also exclusive to Disney+ in France, will also be released on October 3. These Blu-rays will be pre-orderable from August 28th.
