DISNEY+: X-Men ’97, the sequel to the cult series finally dated via a first trailer playing on nostalgia

For several days, fans of the House of ideas enjoy themselves. Indeed, Marvel Studios revealed a first teaser for the feature film Deadpool & Wolverine and the cast of the film The Fantastic Four. Now, it’s the animated series X-Men ’97 who is finally talking about her again. A weather forecast for fall 2023, it is finally on March 20, 2024 that she will land on Disney+ under the full title Marvel Animation’s X-Men ’97. We had only seen a few illustrations of it during the SDCC 2022 and it is now a first trailer which awakens the nostalgic fiber of old spectators with the theme of the eraeven if its artistic direction may not please everyone.

Trailer VOSTFR

The ten episodes (if nothing has changed) will follow directly from the series X-Men in five seasons which had been broadcast from 1992 to 1997, unrelated to the MCU a priori. Unfortunately for us in France, only the first two are currently available on the SVoDunlike other countries, it will therefore be difficult to be up to date before discovering this renaissance, even if the series aims to be accessible.

As the trailer shows, the events depicted will therefore resume after the “death” of Charles Xavier (he’s supposed to be with the Shi’ar Lilandra in space), while the Mutants are clearly frowned upon by the population. We see in particular Magneto to theUN, Cyclops assuming his new role as leader in a classy manner, Sentinels and especially an astonishing plot twist making Erik Lehnsherr the testamentary heir of everything owned by the Professor…You will note the reference to Hellfire Gala of 2021 on the cover of an issue of Daily Buglewhich also mentions Spiderman.

A poster highlighting the main characters on VHS cases was also shared. For younger people, this video cassette type distribution format was commonly used before the arrival of DVD.

Trailer VF
