Disneyland at home: family goes on dream vacation on the doorstep – video

What happened?

The corona virus has made all public events impossible – and therefore forced amusement parks to close first. Even the famous Disney parks had no choice but to disappoint many families who had been looking forward to the experience. But the Hearn family from Texas had another idea.

In fact?

The trip to Florida was canceled on short notice – but why shouldn't you just re-enact the complete Disney experience at home? And so they got to work with creativity and inventiveness.

Was that a good compromise?

More than that: Mama Cady went through with her sister exactly what they wanted to experience on site – and really re-enacted everything. The plane she was traveling on was rebuilt with cut out "windows" that stick on the wall in front of chairs. There is the steam locomotive that drives around Disneyland (replaced by a small toy train). Even absurdly overpriced balloons bought for the children take place.

Oh, very realistic? An amusement park experience, for better or for worse?

Yes, the Hearns also make fun of some things in Disneyland – such as when their daughter as a "queue manager" holds up a sign that says "300 minutes waiting time from here". All Disney visitors know this all too well from their own experience.

And how did the kids like it?

"They loved it," Hearn told CNN. "They had so much fun making everything. They thought it was great to dress up again and act out the scenes. And now they want to watch our" vacation video "again and again." No wonder: children and parents are guaranteed to remember this "family vacation" even longer than a visit to the "real" amusement park!
