Disneyland at home: Family makes dream vacation on the doorstep

Family improvisation: This vacation experience beats any “real” amusement park

Disneyland had closed – but this family didn’t let it spoil their planned visit. In the video you can see how they recreated the experience at home!

What happened?

The coronavirus made all public events impossible at the beginning of 2020 – and therefore also forced amusement parks to close for the time being. Even the famous Disney parks had no choice but to disappoint many families who had been looking forward to the experience. But the Hearn family from Texas had a different idea.

In fact?

The trip to Florida was canceled at short notice – but why not just recreate the entire Disney experience at home? And so they got down to work with creativity and a wealth of ideas.

Was that a good compromise?

More than that: Mama Cady went through with her sister exactly what they wanted to experience on site – and really set everything up. The plane with which they travel has been remodeled with cut-out “windows” that are stuck to the wall in front of the chairs. There’s the steam train that goes around Disneyland (replaced by a small toy train). Even absurdly overpriced balloons that are bought for the children take place.

Oh, very realistic? An amusement park experience, for better or for worse?

Yes, the Hearns also make fun of some things in Disneyland – for example when their daughter, as the “queue manager”, holds up a sign that says “From here 300 minutes wait”. All Disney visitors know this all too well from their own experience.

And how did the children like it?

“They loved it,” Hearn told CNN. “They had so much fun tinkering everything. They thought it was great to dress up again and act out the scenes. And now they want to watch our” holiday video “over and over again.” No wonder: children and parents are guaranteed to remember this “family vacation” longer than a visit to the “real” amusement park!
