Dispute over Royal Lodge: Prince Andrew doesn’t want to move out – and King Charles is said to have no way of kicking him out.
Prince Andrew (63) reportedly has no intention of moving out of the Royal Lodge in Windsor. This is reported by the British newspaper “The Times”. According to the report, the disgraced Duke of York believes that his brother, King Charles III. (74) have no power to evict him from the luxurious estate. The “Times” claims to have learned this from a close confidant of the 63-year-old.
Andrew, who has lived in the 30-room mansion for 20 years, is reportedly due to pressure from Buckingham Palace to move into Frogmore Cottage: a smaller residence on the Windsor estate previously owned by Prince Harry, 38, and Duchess Meghan ( 41) was inhabited. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to the United States in 2020.
Is Prince Andrew safe from being kicked out?
The insider, who is said to be in regular contact with Prince Andrew, said the royal believes he is safe at his previous estate because his name is on the lease with the Crown Estate – and not that of the royal family, according to The Times. In his opinion, one could not put him in front of the door with that.
According to British media reports, the royal family is said to be planning that heir to the throne Prince William (40) and his wife Princess Kate (41) move into the Royal Lodge with their three children. Prince Andrew’s lease is said to expire in 75 years.
An anonymous source told the Mail On Sunday that Andrew felt dejected and was refusing to leave the property, which is believed to be reserved for the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children.
Andrew moved into the villa after the death of Queen Mum (1900-2002), who lived there, in 2002. He lives there with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson (63). The Duke of York had to withdraw from the public eye in 2019 over his alleged involvement in the Epstein scandal.
