The show failed to find its audience … Saturday, December 4, 2021, TF1 launched the second season of District Z. If Arthur, the producer of the show believed in this new version of the game, the channel preferred to deprogram it for lack of audience! Indeed, if 2 million viewers had followed the launch of this new season, they were only 1.6 million last week. Thus, the episode of Baptiste Lacaplain, Bruno Guillon, Booder or even Teheiura Teahui will not be broadcast on Saturday, December 25, 2021 and will be replaced by Le Grand Bêtisier: 30 years of laughter, presented by Christophe Beaugrand and Karine Ferri. Saturday January 1, 8 District Z will make way for the film Charlie and the chocolate factory directed by Tim Burton, and the program 2001-2021: 20 years of cult shows.
Few days ago, Arthur had reacted to the poor ratings of the program. “On this Sunday, I think of the 300 people who have been working hard, happily and enthusiastically on this adventure for 3 years. And who opened their eyes with a hell of a hangover. This morning more than ever I tell you: THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. But to get up after every failure“, he said. Finally, the producer added:”Am up and going, who comes with me for the next big adventure? One thing is certain, when you have produced District Z, you can produce anything.“
Denis Brogniart believed in this second season
At the beginning of December, the host of District Z told France Info: “For the first season, we wiped the plasters, we groped. For the second, we listened to viewers’ criticism: there are more events, more dynamics, less downtime. And the zombies will be very interventionist.“In an interview with TV-Leisure, he added: “This second season is called Reloaded (Rechargé in French, editor’s note) because the concept has really taken it up a notch. If viewers thought the first year was a little too sweet, they’re going to be surprised. Season 1 was a light version. The real version of ‘District Z’, the muscular one, is this year.“
