During the European Championship draw, background noise disrupts the drawing of the groups. An Englishman known for such actions later accused himself.
The English comedian Daniel Jarvis has described himself as the cause of the noise during the group draw for the 2024 European Football Championship in Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie. On Saturday he documented how he obviously manipulated the sound in the concert hall during the Los show.
Guests in the concert hall and also Uefa official Giorgio Marchetti as the draw manager heard – just as Switzerland was being drawn – initially a noise like a baby crying, later it sounded like a woman’s moaning. UEFA also confirmed these impressions, but was initially unable to provide an explanation.
According to participants in the draw, this was reminiscent of an incident during the broadcast of the FA Cup duel between Liverpool FC and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the BBC in January. Former professional and presenter Gary Lineker had asked his colleague Alan Shearer a question when suddenly a woman’s moans could be heard. Jarvis claims to have been responsible for that too.
