Leaks suggest that DJI is about to unveil a new FPV drone designed to fly indoors. It could be out this summer.
While DJI announced the DJI Mini 3 Pro a few days ago, the manufacturer would not be on vacation yet. He was working on a new FPV drone, after his DJI FPV, released last year, which was his first “first person view” drone.
Code name: Avata
The leakers DealsDrone and OsitaLV, qualified as reliable by The Verge, posted information and even pictures of DJI’s (possibly) next FPV drone on Twitter. His code name: Avata. It would weigh around 500 grams and could fly indoors.
Avata is compact and weighs about 500g
Can fly indoors
The photo quality is much better (guess that the Mini 3 Pro is the same)
Greatly improved battery life
Manual mode is not supported

The camera is said to be better than the DJI FPV and should be similar to the Mini 3 Pro. But this is not the only improvement compared to the previous FPV model: the autonomy would be ” significantly improved“.
However, this FPV drone would not have a manual mode, but it would have a “Head Chaseas well as a vibration function.
A priori, the Avata would come with FPV goggles, a device that looks a lot like a virtual reality headset and allows you to watch live what the drone camera sees in order to pilot it. These glasses would then be connected to a smartphone.
DJI’s next FPV drone could fly indoors
If the DJI FPV was good, it was not made to fly indoors, because it was too big and not designed for this use. The Avata would be designed for indoor flight. That’s what the leaked images suggest. We see protections for the propellers, as much to protect the device as what it could damage.
According toGizmodoit would be a drone “cinewhoop», a type of drone made to fly indoors and equipped with a camera, smaller than conventional drones.
