The DJI brand offers with DJI Avata a new drone FPV which promises an even more immersive flight experience for both beginners and experienced users.
After the DJI FPV released last year, the manufacturer wants to invest a little more in the drone market that can be controlled with a helmet thanks to the DJI Avata.
A new headset and one-handed controller to simplify piloting
This new drone has four propellers and weighs only 410 grams on the scale. The brand also indicates that it has added aerodynamic propeller guards for more safety during flight.
To pilot it, the DJI Avata is accompanied by the DJI Goggles 2, a headset allowing you to see exactly what the drone’s cameras are capturing and using augmented reality to find the take-off point at a glance. It features a Micro-OLED screen with adjustable diopters to suit glasses wearers. The range of the headset is up to 10 kilometers with a transmission delay of around 30 milliseconds and it offers 1080p video rendering at 100 ips.
A new DJI motion controller to steer the device and achieve the most spectacular shots possible with one hand is also available.
DJI Avata is intended to be accessible to beginners or amateurs and offers several modes for flights assisted by GPS navigation. The most experienced can switch to manual mode and fly their drone outdoors or indoors. A Turtle mode is also appearing to turn the drone over if it lands on its back.
The drone also has many technologies to ensure the safety of each flight such as the brand’s GEO 2.0 geofencing system, which indicates potential dangers to the user, or the AirSense system to warn the pilot when planes or helicopters are approaching. are located nearby.
As with the DJI FPV, however, the brand indicates that for everyone’s safety, an accompanying person is essential to monitor what is happening around the drone and prevent any accident.
4K video and double stabilization to guarantee the sharpness of the images filmed
For the video part, DJI Avata has a 48 MP 1/1.7-inch CMOS photo sensor with f/2.8 aperture and an ultra-wide-angle lens with a viewing angle of up to 155°. It can shoot in 4K at 60 fps and up to 100 fps in 2.5K definition.
To ensure sharp images, DJI Avata also packs two stabilization systems that eliminate shake during flight and keep the image closer to the true level to maintain a straight frame when shooting hover.
Clips are stored on the device’s 20GB internal memory and a micro SD slot allows for additional storage media for long filming sessions.
The DJI Avata will be available soon for €1,429, which includes the drone, motion controller and DJI Goggles 2 headset. If you already have a compatible headset and remote controller, the drone will also be available without the accessories for €579.
A last, slightly more affordable bundle combining the DJI Avata, the motion controller and the V2 DJI FPV headset (a little older) will be offered at €1,149. Finally, count an additional €249 for the DJI Avata Fly More pack, with two more batteries and a charging station.
