DLSS 10 will display perfect graphics even on an old PC

According to Nvidia, a future version of its DLSS technology could take care almost entirely of the graphics rendering of PC games. This would mean that as long as the graphics card is compatible, even a low-power machine could enjoy very high quality graphics.

To enjoy your PC games without compromising on quality, you can build a computer with the most efficient components on the market. Or have a decent machine, but capable of using technologies dedicated to improving titles. At Nvidia, it is DLSS which fulfills this role. Acronym of Deep Learning Super Samplingit does, among other things, “upscaling”, that is to say it allowsdisplay an image in higher definition without degrading quality. Currently, we are at the version 3.5.

Bryan Catanzaro, vice president of applied deep learning research at Nvidia, sees much further, however: “I think that, say, DLSS 10, in the distant future, will be a fully neural rendering system that will work with a game engine in different ways, and thanks to that, [le jeu] will be more immersive and more beautiful”. According to Catanzaro, this would allowincrease realism and produce environments worthy of AAA games (very high budget game) at a lower cost.

Nvidia has long believed in the power of graphic rendering by a neural network. Already in 2018, the company unveiled a demonstration of a world created with this technology. “What we were doing was using the game engine to generate information about the location of objects and then using that as input to a neural network that would do all the rendering,” recalls Bryan Catanzaro.

Concretely, just as the current DLSS visibly improves performance even if you do not have the latest RTX 4090, such a way of doing things would allow those who do not have overpowering machines to fully enjoy their games. You will of course have to wait several years before the process sees the light of day, and obviously at that time you will have to have a compatible graphics card.
