Do I have to put my children on the mandatory tax return?

Hello Benot. Like all owners, you now know that you must complete a mandatory declaration. The latter aims to establish who still has to pay a tax on his accommodation. Because if the residence tax has been abolished for main residences, secondary residences and vacant dwellings remain subject to taxation.

From your personal space, it is therefore necessary, for each of your real estate properties, to find out who occupies the premises, whether it is a main or secondary residence, or a third party if the property is rented. The nature of the occupation (main residence Or secondary) is also informed, as is knowing whether it is rent or occupy free title.

You must finally enter the identity of the occupants, with the surnames, first names and date of birth of each. For example, if you have owned your main residence for several years, this declaration is a formality: all you have to do is check your prefilled identity – and that of your spouse if you are in a relationship -, before clicking on no change then confirming and transmitting.

Declaring your children is not compulsory

But then, do the children also have to appear on the declaration? Since, barring exceptions, their identity is not prefilled, unlike adults. It is not necessary to declare the childrenconfirms the site impts.gouv. Information taken from All about my finances which explains for its part that the declaration of minor children occupying the accommodation is optional. If they are not in the list of occupants of the accommodation, there is no obligation to add them. The declaration can be validated as is.
