do i have to subscribe as a group?

The comparator Selectra and the Familles de France association are launching a group purchase of home insurance. After a registration phase, companies will be asked to offer the most attractive contract. Verdict expected in February.

After having tried the experience for health supplements and energy bills for gas and electricity, the Familles de France association and the Selectra comparator are joining forces to launch the first national buying group of home insurance. Objective: to obtain an advantageous contract thanks to the strength of numbers. In 2020, the average price of home insurance was around 216 euros per year for an apartment and 372 euros per year for a house, they explain to justify their business. And in 2022, forecasts compiled by MoneyVox count on a average increase in annual premiums between 1.5% and 3.5%. But home insurance has seen its rates jump by more than 30% in the past 15 years.

Auto, home, mutual … These increases that await you for insurance in 2022

This trend will certainly increase in 2022 following the multiplication and severity of climatic events, which disturb the balance between collection of contributions and payment of claims for insurers. The Banque de France’s Prudential Control and Resolution Authority forecasts an increase in insurance premiums of 130% to 200% within 30 years. Closer to us, the experts interviewed by MoneyVox expect the Catnat tax (natural disasters), levied on auto and home contracts, to drop from 12% to 18% by 2025.

Free and without obligation

To meet this risk, do we have to take out a collective contract? Faced with the complexity of home insurance formulas, it is sometimes difficult to understand what is covered by your contract and thus to compare with a competing contract. This is an important brake on change, underline Selectra and Familles de France in their communique. By joining the operation, participants will be able to be supported to better understand their contract, the guarantees that make it up as well as the reimbursements to which they are entitled in the event of a claim. Their operation is free and without obligation and will propose, in fine, contracts tailored to each subscriber.

Some 1,300 people have already shown interest, according to figures communicated to the Parisian. Once the pre-registrations have been collected, a call for tenders will be sent to the insurers. Selectra and Familles de France will then negotiate the most interesting offer possible. Once the winning offer has been selected, it will be sent to the pre-registrants who will be able to freely choose to subscribe to the offer.
