Do Olive and Tom win the cup at the end of this cartoon from our childhood?

Do you remember the cult cartoon “Olive and Tom”, which told the adventures of two talented football players? We tell you how it ends!

“Olive and Tom, iThey are always in good shape! Tom, Oliver, shave great training! Tom, Oliverthey are come to win !” If you are a fan of cartoons from the 80s, you necessarily remember this credits, that of Olive and Tom, a cult program created in 1983 from the manga Captain Tsubasa by Yoichi Takahashi.

Dbroadcast for the first time in Japan between 1983 and 1986, Olive et Tom then had a great time in the youth programs of our regions, in particular Yippee! School is over on The Five and the Dorothee Club on TF1. A series that has made millions of young viewers want to kick a ball as soon as an episode is finished!

Olive et Tom tells the story of Olivier Atton, an exceptionally talented young footballer who plays for the Newteam. Trained by Roberto, a former football glory, he can dream of the greatest trophies. But before glory, you have to win… To go to the heights, he will notably be surrounded by goalkeeper Thomas Price. On their grassy path, they will come across many adversaries, including the terrible Mark Landers.

Admittedly not very credible (a crossing of the field which lasts 10 minutes or the formation of a human pyramid to score a goal, it is not possible!), Olive and Tom is nonetheless a show full of energy which takes everything in its path. A cult series, therefore, but do you remember the end? We tell you what happens in the 128th and last episode, titled A team of champions.

Olive and Tom for parents: 3 minutes to understand everything about the Japanese football anime

Olive and Tom’s final episode is made up of several flashbacks that allow viewers to reunite with some of Olivier’s toughest adversaries. At the end, we learn that the young hero is part of a list of 24 shortlisted for the second European junior tournament. Only 17 will finally have the chance to participate in this competition, but the names of the lucky winners are not revealed in the episode.

The end of Olive and Tom is therefore frustrating to say the least if we expect a real sporting conclusion. To find out what happens next, you actually have to watch the sequel, titled Olive and Tom: The Return, which sees our young hero join the Japan squad for the 2002 World Cup.
