ChatGPT will now be available to all developers thanks to a new API.

ChatGPT has spawned a furious AI fad that everyone now wants their own, from Google to Elon Musk. But the creation of OpenAI remains for the moment what is best in the field. And it will now be able to be integrated into almost all web services thanks to an API.

ChatGPT for all

Until today, users who wanted to test ChatGPT had to go to the OpenAI site, create a profile there (including leaving their phone number) and hope not to fall on a congested network. A practice that could well end. Indeed, OpenAI has just announced the implementation of an API, which will allow all developers to integrate ChatGPT into their applications and IT services.

In short, it will now be possible to do like Microsoft, which has already installed AI on its Bing search engine. Even if there is obviously a difference, the artificial intelligence of the Redmond firm being, according to the latter, ” even faster, more precise and more efficient than GPT-3.5 and ChatGPT.

$0.002 per 1000 tokens

However, developers should not sulk their pleasure. The cost of use would indeed have been divided by ten according to OpenAI, thanks in part to a ” a series of system-wide optimizations “. The firm led by Sam Altman will thus offer 1,000 tokens for the price of 0.002 dollars. A token corresponds to a block processed by the AI, and would be equivalent according to the company to approximately 4 letters on average in the English language.

The other announcement, which will surely be destined to remain in the shadow of this big news, is the launch of an API for its Whisper speech-to-text conversion model. A solution that will cost its users $0.006 per minute. So, are we going to be inundated in a few weeks by conversational agents?
