Do you like surveys? They arrive in the Instagram comments

Since its launch, the Instagram application has undergone a lot of changes. The comments section, meanwhile, has remained almost identical to its beginnings, with the only major change it has seen being the addition of GIFs a few months ago.

But there might be something new soon, as Instagram is currently testing a feature that could not only make it more interesting, but also help increase audience engagement: polls in comments.

Better interaction between content creators and followers

Among the techniques frequently used on Instagram to increase audience engagement is the question asked in the caption of a publication.

It encourages people to leave a comment under the publication, allowing its creator to both increase the engagement of the publication and get to know their followers better.

The presence of polls in the comments could significantly improve the interaction between content creators and their audience in the comments section. Indeed, the creator could thus have real answers to the questions he asks. Currently, without a poll, it can be difficult to determine the most popular answer – especially when the number of comments is very large – by simply counting the answers.

Test phase

Surveys already exist on Instagram, in story and direct message (DM). Content creators regularly use them to consult their followers – a fun way to get their opinion.

While the new feature had been spotted by users during testing, it was confirmed by Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram. In his words, this is currently a “small test”.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, also discussed the feature on his Instagram, saying it would be “rolling out to everyone soon.”

During the testing phase, only certain users have access to the new functionality. To find out if you are one of the chosen ones, go to the comments section.
