Samsung plays the good role. After having, in no time, deployed Android 14 on its Galaxy S23the manufacturer is now communicating its update schedule until the end of the year.

When it comes to software tracking, transparency is king and Samsung understands this. The Korean manufacturer, which is now one of the model students in terms of software monitoring on Android, has just communicated its update schedule to Android 14 for most eligible Galaxy smartphones. And the least we can say is that the company is precise about its deployment dates, despite the mountain of devices it releases each year.

The complete calendar

On the brand’s official forum, a Romanian community manager published a table which lists the smartphones and tablets likely to be updated by the end of the year, week by week. This calendar is for European devices, if your phone was purchased on another continent the dates are subject to change.

At the top of the ranking, we obviously find the Galaxy S23, which has already received the update since the end of October. The Z Fold and Z Flip 5 should, for their part, upgrade to Android 14 today, or in the coming days at most. The full schedule is as shown below.

Week 45 (starting 11/13/2023):

  • Galaxy A34 5G – 11/13/2023
  • Galaxy A54 5G – 11/13/2023

  • Galaxy S22 Ultra – 11/15/2023

  • Galaxy S23 FE – 11/15/2023
  • Galaxy Z Flip 5 – 11/20/2023
  • Galaxy Z Fold 5 – 11/13/2023
  • Galaxy A14 5G – No specific date

Week 46 (starting 11/20/2023):

  • Galaxy A13 5G – 11/20/2023
  • Galaxy A33 5G – 11/20/2023
  • Galaxy A52 – 11/27/2023
  • Galaxy A52s 5G – 11/27/2023
  • Galaxy A53 5G – 11/20/2023
  • Galaxy A72 – 11/30/2023
  • Galaxy S21 5G – 11/20/2023
  • Galaxy S21 FE 5G – 11/24/2023

  • Galaxy S21+ 5G – 11/20/2023
  • Galaxy Z Flip 4 – 11/20/2023
  • Galaxy Z Fold 4 – 11/20/2023

Week 47 (starting 11/27/2023)

  • Galaxy A13 – 11/27/2023
  • Galaxy A14 – No specific date
  • Galaxy A23 5G – 11/27/2023
  • Galaxy A25 5G – 01/12/2023
  • Galaxy A52 5G – No specific date
  • Galaxy Tab A7 Lite – No specific date
  • Galaxy Z Flip3 5G – 11/27/2023
  • Galaxy Z Fold3 5G – 11/27/2023

Finally, the Galaxy A04s and Galaxy XCover5 are expected to receive their updates to Android 14 on December 4 and 8 respectively. Only the Galaxy A05s was listed without an associated rollout week.

A bit of patience

It is important to note, as Samsung specifies, that “These dates are purely indicative in nature. It is possible that they change over time, depending on the context (appearance of a bug, etc.)“. Some updates can also arrive in waves, so don’t panic if you don’t receive a notification on the day, the system will arrive on your mobile when it is ready. If Google’s troubles with Android 14 have proven anything, it’s that it’s not necessarily a good idea to jump on an update as soon as it’s available.

Samsung has been promising between 4 and 5 years of software updates for its Galaxy smartphones for some time. It is pleasant to see that this does not only concern high-end models and that even “cheap” phones are entitled to a real software monitoring policy. We’re not yet at the level of Google which ensures 7 years of updates, but given the plethora of devices that Samsung releases every year it’s already not bad. And a little transparency on the subject is always good to have.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5

  • Discover new uses for your smartphone
  • Impeccable performance
  • The contribution of the secondary screen

Samsung has come a long way and delivers with this Galaxy Z Flip5 nothing less than the best iteration imaginable.

Still as compact and elegant, this new folding smartphone ultimately makes its second screen a real everyday asset, allowing you to accomplish simple tasks without having to open your smartphone. It’s a shame that more developers don’t take advantage of the opportunity to offer applications adapted to this particular screen.

Powered by a powerful chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the Z Flip5 is able to take on all challenges and will never run out of power… But maybe run out of battery! And yes, this remains one of the downsides of this folding smartphone: it’s difficult to hope to get more than a day’s battery life from it.

Among the (semi) disappointments, we can also remember these photo sensors which are frankly starting to date. The Flip range deserves to move up a gear and finally benefit from Samsung’s latest innovations in photography and video. Limiting the ultra-wide-angle sensor to Full HD video at 30 fps in 2023 is almost criminal!
