CSU state group postpones exam due to corona cases

The CSU regional group’s annual kick-off meeting has a long tradition, but has to be postponed in the wake of the pandemic: Several participants tested positive, including chairman Alexander Dobrindt.

The members of the Bundestag of the CSU will not meet as planned next Thursday and Friday for the annual meeting in Berlin. The state group confirmed a report by “Münchner Merkur” to ntv.de, according to which several participants are affected by corona cases. In addition to four employees of the regional group, its chairman Alexander Dobrindt is also infected. The exam should be rescheduled.

Dobrindt is reportedly fully vaccinated and has already received a booster vaccination. With Pablo Casado, the party leader of the conservative Spanish Partido Popular, a guest invited to the closed conference has to cancel. According to “Mercury” it is also positive.

The retreat at the beginning of the year traditionally took place in Seeon Abbey before the pandemic. This year the national group would have met in the capital.
