Doc: season 2 of the Italian series between Grey’s Anatomy and Dr House finally arrives on TF1

More than a year after the broadcast of season 1, the Italian phenomenon series “Doc”, carried by Luca Argentero, will be back in June on TF1 with 16 new episodes which will thus succeed “Grey’s Anatomy”.

A medical series chases another on TF1. The channel will pause season 18 of Grey’s Anatomy on May 25, just five episodes from the end, and will instead offer the unreleased season 2 of Doc starting Wednesday, June 1 at 9:10 p.m.

Very good audience success last year in France, with up to 5.2 million viewers (including replay) and 29% audience share for women responsible for purchases under 50, the medical series worn by Luca Argentero broke records in his country of origin, Italy, by bringing together nearly 9 million curious people in front of his first episode in 2020.

Again composed of 16 episodes, this second season of Doc continues to tell the daily life of doctor Andrea Fanti, who has made a change of life following his memory loss, and will now have to face, with his team, the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic.

But unlike season 17 of Grey’s Anatomy, which dealt frontally with the coronavirus, these new episodes approach it by performing an ellipsis from episode 2 and focusing on “the after”. A bit like what was done in the United States on the side of Good Doctor and The Resident.

After being at the forefront of the war against Covid, Andrea and her colleagues are once again taking care, with all the empathy of which they are capable, of the patients who count on them. But each of the characters will have to start a new life.

And in the great adventure of returning to normal life, the stake will no longer be just the future of heroes, as in the first season, but the future of the entire service, whose very existence will be threatened.

Always led by Matilde Gioli (Julia), Sara Lazzaro (Agnès), Pierpaolo Spollon (Riccardo), or even Alberto Boubakar Malanchino (Gabriel), season 2 of Doc also welcomes new faces such as Alice Arcuri in the role of Cecilia Tedeschi , a very hard news from the head of the department, and Gaetano Bruno, who lends his features to Edoardo Valenti, a surgeon at the hospital.

TF1 will broadcast this new batch of Doc at the rate of two episodes per week from June 1. And by then, those who would have missed out on the phenomenon can catch up with the first season of the Italian series on Salto.
