Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released in theaters on May 4, 2022 in France. It will be exclusively in cinemas and not on Disney+.

It’s none other than Sam Raimi who will be in charge of Doctor Strange 2. It’s the great return of this director in the superheroic world, and it contributes to the expectations on the film: he is the one who directed the famous Spider-Man trilogy with Tobey Maguire, which remained in the hearts of many of people.

A first trailer was released at the end of last year – after a first teaser among the post-credits scenes of Spider-Man No Way Home. This trailer formalizes the presence of Wanda (Elisabeth Olsen). There are also a lot of details and references.
The BA also confirms that a great Marvel villain, who is none other than an octopus from hell, will be there. He had previously been teased by the packaging of a toy linked to the film.
In addition to the trailer, there is a TV spot in which we find some new images and additional revelations.
Wanda, Professor X, Spider-Man: which characters with which cast?
The title role will be, as from the start, held by Benedict Cumberbatch. Doctor Strange is about a neurosurgeon named Steven Strange, who discovers powerful wizarding powers.
The return of Wanda, played by Elisabeth Olsen, is confirmed. This will therefore make it possible to know what becomes of the character after the end of Wanda Vision. A short post-credits scene in the series showed Wanda in possession of the darkhold, a powerful and dangerous grimoire. We then wondered if Wanda did not risk turning into an antagonist, which the trailer for the film suggests, where Wanda and Doctor Strange seem to oppose each other.
Another confirmation: it is in this new film that we will see the superheroine for the first time America Chávez (or Miss America). It is performed by Xochitl Gomez.
In this first trailer for Doctor Strange 2, another element caught the eye. It is a scene in particular: without us seeing the Professor Xwe could recognize the voice of Patrick Stewart. The actor initially denied his presence in the film, before confirming it in an interview. The leader of the X-Men will therefore be in the film in the guise of his forever interpreter.
A potential presence: Monica Rambeauplayed by Teyonah Parris in Wanda Vision. This character can manipulate the electromagnetic spectrum and is called spectrum. In the comics, she also becomes the second Captain Marvel. She discovered in this way important powers in Wanda Vision, and a post-credits scene suggested she was going to meet Nick Fury in person. A strange scene from the trailer, again, seems to highlight its presence. But it is not confirmed at the moment. It would, however, be quite logical, because in Wanda Visionshe has bonded with Wanda, who will be in the game.
And if Dead Pool was also in the game? fans have believed to see it, in the trailer. That being the case, Ryan Renolds totally refutes the slightest presence in the film. From there to believe it… Another rumor: Tom Cruise as Iron Man — a variant of Iron Man. But nothing official or even the slightest clue confirms this idea.
There is yet another casting rumor, more plausible this time: a second return of Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man. Two elements contribute to this perspective. First of all, Sam Raimi is the director of the trilogy which featured this Spider-Man. Next, Elisabeth Olsen’s Portuguese voice actress was seen in the company of the Portuguese voice actor of Tobey Maguire – it was enough to revive the rumor.
What is the storyline of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?
Doctor Strange 2 is presented as a sort of direct sequel to Spider-Man No Way Home. The trailer does indeed suggest that, in this installment, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will have to deal with the problems caused by the opening he created in the multiverse. For the moment, it is not known who will be the “great threat” of the film.
The “variants” of Strange
By opening up the multiverse, Steven Strange thus opens the door to encounters with alternative characters to those we know. These are the famous “variants”, introduced for the first time in Loki and what if on Disney+.
The trailer of Doctor Strange 2 confirms that Steven will encounter (at least) two of his variants:
- Defender Strange,
- Doctor Strange Supreme (or Evil Strange — already seen in the animated series what if).
